If there’s one thing that’s quickly become a favorite tradition of ours, here at Vossen, it’s the Mondera Japan Vossen Owners Meets. In less than six months we’ve traveled to Japan twice to partake in the festivities, and even through the chaos that was Typhoon Phanfone, we’ve had a blast. This time around, however, whilst also attending Tokyo Auto Salon, we couldn’t’ve asked for clearer skies or more epic scenery!

Leaving Chiba at dawn, we trekked several hours around the rim of Tokyo Bay, arriving in Shizuoka City. We were welcomed by dozens of Vossen-clad cars and excited fans, as well as an epic view of Mt. Fuji in the background.

The Mondera team was hard at it, tents and displays set up, music playing, and precision parking all over the grounds. And when I say precision parking, I really mean it. They used a device to measure the spacing between cars and everything—truly impressive and beautiful, I must say!

The most noticeable thing, though? Always the people. The Japanese car community is always so full of excitement, which in turn makes us more excited, and generally leads to a great time to be had all around—typhoon or not. The diversity of cars was also pretty impressive, from Mazdas to Teslas, Audis to minivans, and everything in between, including Hamana’s jaw-dropping Audi RS6, a car that we previewed at Tokyo Auto Salon, but hadn’t seen in the light of day just yet.

As the afternoon carried on, Shun, of Mondera Japan and the MC for the event, invited all of the attendees around to announce two awards. The Vossen Team, traveling from Miami, chose our favorite car, the Honda Wagon on VLE-1s, while the people chose an E92 335 on Vossen Forged: Precision Series VPS309 wheels! While there was a myriad of great cars in attendance, we couldn’t help but love the dark look of the VLE-1-outfitted Wagon. An honorable mention, though, and my personal favorite or the event, was the body-dropped Toyota Tacoma on CVTs—a truly unique and deep build, and one that made me quite happy to see!

We would like to thank Yuki and his staff at Mondera Japan for hosting such a fantastic event and inviting us over yet again, as well as every person and car that traveled the great distances that some did in order to attend. We’re counting the days until our next Japanese trip is planned, but in the meantime, enjoy the official owners meet video by clicking here!
