]]> Art Basel, an internationally-acclaimed event that also visits Switzerland and Hong Kong each year, takes over the city of Miami, Florida every December. The formal Art Basel galleries are an international attraction for many but the Miami art community, focused in the Wynwood Art District, embraces the week like none other. Nearly every space in Wynwood is overtaken with varying shows, pop-ups and music, with the massive Mana Wynwood (@manawynwood) complex hosting the Red Dot and Spectrum art shows.

Vossen’s European efforts at Essen Motor Show usually collide with Art Basel on the calendar, so getting involved in the city’s festivities is a difficult task. However, a perfect storm of venues, concepts and partners led to Vossen’s first formal participation in the events in not just one, but two locations throughout Wynwood.

In partnership with SWARM (@swarm_eventagency) and Hive Wynwood (@hivewynwood), we enlisted the help of local artist and designer, Surge (@illsurge), to hand paint a new Lamborghini Urus (thanks to our friend @lambo_laparl!). With acrylic paint pens in mind, we brought the Urus over to our friends at Metro Group (@metrowrapz) to wrap the Italian luxury USV in a matte white finish, creating the perfect blank canvas for Surge to spill his mind.

Fitted with 23″ Vossen Forged S17-01 wheels, the Urus had a very striking look before Surge got underway. Painting and doodling Thursday and Friday night, Surge put the finishing touches on his piece just in-time for the weekend to begin!

Across Wynwood, at the old RC Cola Factory, another event called Basel House (@baselhouse) was home to our second display: the Wheel Bouquet originally created for the Vossen Gallery at SEMA 2018. Amidst dozens of street artists that were painting murals throughout the freshly-refinished RC plant the bouquet was on exhibit, with Vossen’s Urban Automotive (@urbanautomotive) Range Rover and Novitec (@novitecgroup) Ferrari 488 on display beside it. Throughout the weekend the Basel House was home to a variety of concerts, live art exhibitions and an assortment of vendors, with the Vossen Forged duo and bouquet front and center.

As quick as our Art Basel 2018 plan came together it was over, and all that remained was the freshly-painted Lamborghini Urus and a flash of memories! It couldn’t’ve happened without some amazing friends and partners in the Miami area and beyond and we are elated with our first Art Basel presence!
