Long before the Porsche 991 GT3 on ML-R1s, he crashed the modified car world with this bagged BMW i8, but it wasn’t always this electrifying shade of purple, red (on LC-108Ts) or even matte black (on LC-104s). James “Lord” McDonnell’s BMW i8 (@lordmcdonnell) started its modified life with original white paint, loudly complemented by the Vossen Forged VPS-305T in brushed transparent Vossen Red. Over the years, James did an unbelievable job keeping the look fresh, with more styles than we can count on two hands, but the final stage of Lord McDonnell’s BMW i8 is surely a crowd favorite.

The dark violet metallic wrap, often mistaken for black, is brightened by the Vossen Forged ML-R2 wheel. Directional in design and manufactured in Vossen’s state-of-the-art, TÜV Verified forged wheel factory, the ML-R2s measure 22×9 in front and 22×10.5 in the rear. The full polish finish is contrasted by the wheels’ hand-brushed faces then tinted slightly with a transparent Light Smoke powder coat. Paired with an Accuair (@accuair) air suspension system devised and built by Danny at Slammered (@slammered), the Lord McDonnell BMW i8 effortlessly stood apart from the crowd for its lifetime in the car scene before being returned to stock and exchanged for a BMW X5 M.

I’ve gotten to know Danny a bit since my move to Miami a few years ago. Immediately it was clearly apparent how well respected he is down here. As the owner of “Slammered INC” (@slammered on IG) he’s created some truly amazing builds.  From the east coast to the west, Danny has a list of various award winning completed projects. In addition his built Infiniti G35 is one of the most well known in the community!

Slammered‘s G35 has a few obvious features its modified. I think the biggest one is the Porsche “Signal Green” paint. It wasn’t as easy as just buying paint and just spraying but Danny is one hell of a problem solver when it comes to modifying cars!

Note all the wide fenders front and rear. Fabricated by Danny himself, they completely alter the stance of this Accuair bagged G35. Everything fits absolutely perfect and the paint matches like it was OEM!

The all new Vossen x Work wheels were custom built to Danny’s specifications. With an Anodized Bronze Lip with a Matte Gunmetal Center they contrast with the Signal Green paint.

Fitment is on the money and the overall look is spectacular. Sizes are 20×10 in the front and 20×12 in the rear with negative offsets.

Under the hood you have a custom engine setup with upgraded turbos. Danny’s G35 now makes around 670hp! Note how clean the engine bay is!

Inside no stone was left unturned as he completely gutted out the interior to make it as light as possible A full rollcage with Bride Seats hint greatly at the intent of this G35.

Out back a custom APR Carbon Fiber wing was added to help with downforce. It also looks quite the part on this widebody G35! It was great to be able to spend some time learning more about Danny, his shop Slammered and his G35. The “Green Goblin” was one of my favorite vehicles to feature in 2016!

James’ BMW i8 is no stranger to the Vossen cameras, though. Last year this very same i8 (before the matte black wrap and fitted with our VPS-305T forged wheels) teamed up with Lou La Vie’s i8 for a day in the Port of Miami. In fact, none of his cars have been left out—from his 5 Series to the Range Rover Autobiography Edition—they’ve all crossed our lenses at one point or another.

However, James has totally transformed the look of the i8 over the past year, from the original white and red color scheme to matte black and copper, and now to a clean and classy matte black and full polish. Now fitted with air suspension, care of our good friends at Accuair (@accuair) and installed by Danny at Slammered (@slammered), the Bavarian hybrid exotic car reaches new lows, changing the entire aesthetic of the car.

Measuring 22×9 up front and 22×10.5 in the rear, the new Vossen Forged: LC Series LC-104 wheels are fully polished with a clear powder coat, creating a very stark contrast against the sleek, matte black body lines. The LC-104s are machined, polished, and powder coated entirely in-house, in our TUV Verified factory located in Miami, Florida.

The BMW 435i has only been out a short time, but that hasn’t stopped countless people from modifying the car in every which way. Take, for example, Danny Conde’s (@danny_condee) bagged BMW 435i on Vossen VLE-1 Wheels. Danny’s car hasn’t even had its first oil service, but it’s now slammed over our gloss graphite limited-edition VLE-1’s—a perfect addition to any white car! With custom components being grafted by our friends at Slammered (@slammered) to get the 435 sitting just right, it’s sure to turn heads everywhere it goes.
