There’s no better way to kick off a new year than a trip around the world for Tokyo Auto Salon and the Vossen Japan Owners Meet 2016!
After traveling to Chiba and attending Tokyo Auto Salon for the first day (click here) we decided to break up the busy weekend by hosting the Vossen Japan Owners Meet on Saturday, while the masses flocked to Makuhari Messe for TAS.
Hidden away from the commotion in a parking lot beside the sea, Vossen owners gathered, parking as uniformly precise as possible, an hour before the event official began. As we arrived we saw the early birds detailing their cars and catching up. While our friends at Hamana had some of our favorite cars on display at Tokyo Auto Salon, we couldn’t have been more excited to spot some new faces and cars, like this Mazda 6/Atenza Wagon duo, sporting our VFS-1 and VFS-2 wheels.
As the parking lot continued to fill we started to make our rounds, shooting the cars, the people, and the scene as a whole. Cars continued to arrive, and the sun stayed steady in the sky, uninterrupted by even the slightest suggestion of cloud cover or rain—a beautiful (but frigidly-cold!) day to see our Japanese friends and their cars.
As the day passed, I snuck away to a corner of the complex to photograph a few of our favorites, as seen below (click each graphic to find the full gallery). From the Vossen Forged-equipped Lexus LX570 to a stunning Toyota Prius trio on CVTs, there were more great-looking cars to shoot than ever before and cameras were out in full-force!
Before we knew it, hours had passed and shoots had finished, and it was time to retreat back into the warm halls of Tokyo Auto Salon. As cars disbursed and the event wound down we rejoiced, grateful for the clear skies, beautiful cars, and massive continued support from our friends and fans in Japan.
To everyone that attended the 2016 Vossen Japan Owners Meet, we thank you. Thank you for braving the cold weather, welcoming us so warmly, and bringing some of the best cars that Japan has to offer!
