Our Porsche 911 Cabriolet on Vossen Forged VPS-308 is one of my favorite cars in the Vossen family. While most opt for the Rosso Fuoco Opaco Ferrari 458, the flagship of the Vossen fleet, there’s something special about the new 991 body of the Porsche—especially as a cabriolet.
Revered as a landmark in Porsche’s design history, the 991 generation of the 911 is a mildly-but-diligently revised successor to the 997 body, boasting a wider track and longer wheel base, though even the most-trained eyes may not even notice.
Outfitted with 21×9 and 21×11 Precision Series wheels, front and rear, the Porsche’s wheels are just an inch larger in diameter than what’s offered from the German factory, but mated with KW Variant 3 coilovers fit just right, keeping a respectful proportion inside the wheel arch.
Outward aesthetics aside, this Porsche 911’s real beauty is hidden away on the inside, in the tone of Porsche’s Yachting Blue Leather. Nearly ever panel inside the 991’s face-lifted interior is trimmed in this timeless shade of leather, and carbon fiber accents break up the blue in all of the right spots, with satin black and brushed aluminum supporting the accents.
To tie it all together, the Vossen Forged: Precision Series VPS-308 wheels have been powder coated by our in-house facilities to match the color of the Porsche’s seat backs—a clever and easily overlooked pairing.
As with any Precision Series wheel, the VPS-308s were developed, engineered, and produced right here in Miami, in our TUV-Verified factory. From measurements specific to the new 991 body and its clearances, the wheels were engineered to outperform their German counterparts that were originally fitted to the Stuttgart-born car, and will stand the test of time and hold true (overall runout on our forged wheels is less than 3 human hairs thick).
